Blue Web'n is a
searchable library of about 1200 outstanding Internet learning sites categorized
by subject area, audience, and type (lessons, activities, projects, resources,
references, & tools). Blue Web'n does not attempt to catalog all educational
sites, but only the most useful sites -- especially online activities targeted
at learners.
The Center for Improved Engineering and Science Projects (CIESE)
Since 1994, CIESE has been a
pioneer in the development of Internet-based lessons that exploit the unique and
compelling aspects of this technology. Focusing on the use of real-time
data and global telecollaborative projects, these projects engage students in
authentic science investigations in which they perform experiments, collect and
record real data, make predictions, and, in effect, become real scientists. Through
email and other web-based forums, they are able to communicate and collaborate
with students and scientists around the world.
This site
includes a wide variety of online projects related to animal migration and
seasonal change. The journeys of a dozen migratory species are tracked each
spring. Students share their own field observations with classrooms across the
Hemisphere. In addition, students are linked with scientists who provide their
expertise directly to the classroom. Several migrations are tracked by satellite
telemetry, providing live coverage of individual animals as they migrate. As the
spring season sweeps across the Hemisphere, students note changes in daylight,
temperatures and all living things as the food chain comes back to
life.
Since 1996, ePALS
Classroom Exchange has been helping teachers, parents and students around the
world take advantage of new technologies that enhance and enrich learning
experiences. ePALS has received numerous accolades for these efforts and
continues to develop exciting new ways to bring technology and learning together
in ways that are safe, easy and fun.
iEARN is a
non-profit global network that enables young people to use the Internet and
other new technologies to engage in collaborative educational projects that both
enhance learning and make a difference in the world.
