About the Teacher

Educated locally at the University of Massachusetts and Harvard University, John Flynn has been the visual arts teacher at Maynard High School for over twelve years. In that time he has redesigned the visual arts curriculum, having students focus on the creation of art as an intellectual exercise as well as creative act. Through the Maynard High School visual arts program, students are exposed to a variety of methods, materials, and theories, with a dash of fun thrown in for good measure. MHS graduates have continued to study the visual arts at the following schools: Unimversity of Massachusetts, Skidmore, Mass Art, The Museum of Fine Arts School, University of New Hampshire, University of Vermont and the Rhode Island School of Design.
